What is your favorite greek god. Mine is Zeus. I do like Athena, but where I live we have a repplica of the parthonon. Athena's statue is 42 feet tall and Nike is 6 feet. Under the place is an under ground sort of tunnel. It is not normaly opened to the public. In this room there is molds and casts of what used to be in the orginally parthonon. England had given them to us when they heard of the place being built. Though, England still has all the good stuff. Getting back to my point. I like Athena, but I hear enough about her. I like Argus as well. He is a guard with 100 eyes or more. Weird lookin thing if you ask me.
Athena is the daughter of Zeus. She was born by cracking her father's head open and jumping out fully dresed in her armor. It is said that Zeus had a bad headache before this happened! No kidding, I would have had a bad headache too!!!Argus was punished and lost his 100 eyes. The goddess Hera took them away and placed them on the tail of her favorite bird the peacock. That is why the peacock tail feathers have 'eyes' on them. It is said that he sneaked and watched the goddess bath and that is why he was punished! I love greek mythology as well as nordic mythology where Odin is the god of gods like Zeus or Dias is for the greek gods. I also like the hindu mythology but I know a bit less about than I know about the greek and nordic.
Yeah, greek mythology is one of my newest historical hobbies. I mainly study England history and American history as well. So it is refreshing to learn some thing new.
I love Greek mythology. I'm about to take a Folklore course and that's practically my whole textbook. as for my favorite god, I'd have to go with Athena and Apollo.
I know this is an old topick but i found it because of the search feature. And because i wasn't a member then i am going to reply now.
I would say Athena is my favorite but i like some other people from the Greek mithology who are not gods. Herculis who was a sun of a god and also Odysseus from the epick poem odyssey because he was very clever and solved many problems.
It's hard to say. I like them all, but I think my favorites are Athena and Artimus.
Ooh! Tough one. I've always liked Artemis, the huntress, even though she was a feisty, vengeful bitch. But she loved dogs, and the forest, and the hunt, and she really, really loved all her girls, and she was twin sister of the mighty, golden Appollo and was still about a thousand times cooler. Also, goddess of the moon, and the hunt, and virgins, and.... childbirth? That's gotta be a tough gig to pull off.
Also got a huge soft spot for Pan, cause, musicians and trickster gods are just a good conbination.
Prometheus, cause, titan, and if there's anyone in that whole, messed up pantheon that didn't need to go round empowering mankind with divine gifts it was the titans, but he did, and boy did he pay for it.
and a few non-gods from the mythology: Thesius, possibly just because he's marginally less of a schmuck than Achilles or Jason or Hercules or Perseus.
Narcissus, who I think is one of the most misunderstood characters of all time, the poor darling, and who has a truly horrible curse and a heartbreakingly tragic end. Echo too. They both really need a hug. The Ovid version of the myth is the best, imho, but it's all relative.
And, now I've let my extreme geekery out to play for a minute, I'm going back into hiding.
I like Aphrodite, (pardon the spelling if it's not right), goddess of love, and something else ...
Zeus, Athena, Apollo, Artemis to name a few.
